Getting Back to Basics

Hey guys! So,in my last post, I talked about my “why” and what all was important to me about this journey. One of the things I hit on was getting back to nature. This is a big one for me. I am really looking forward to having the sun light up my day and not the artificial light we all have become so used to. I want to feel the fresh air on my face rather than what’s pumped out of pipes. And, I want to use products that are free of toxins and chemicals and as close to nature as I can get.

It’s pretty crazy how many unnatural ingredients are in our everyday items and we don’t even really think about…or seem to care. We just simply purchase them and use them every day without question…myself included.

While I do try to be aware and try to make the best choices most of the time, I tend to also reach for the most popular everyday items without thinking. Well, no more. I am getting back to basics.

You can have whatever view you want when it comes to choosing organic, natural products over manmade chemical ones…either way you feel is cool with me. For me, though, it just seems to make sense to opt for the more natural ones. I mean, we are organic beings…like we are made up of the same things found in stars…in fact, I have read that humans and the galaxy have 97% of the same kind of atoms, crazy, eh ? So, I feel like our bodies would respond to whole, pure, natural ingredients so much better…seems like a no-brainer to me.

So, with all that being said, I have been looking around at different natural products that I can use in place of my not-so-natural ones. While doing this I came across  A Wild Soap Bar, an awesome company that not only makes amazing  organic soaps but they also strive to support fair trade, organic and sustainable businesses, as well as give back to the community and the world in numerous ways. When I read all that, plus saw their list of ingredients I knew I had to give them a try. Of course I wanted everything but I narrowed it down to three items.

Woof Wild Dog Shampoo

Tooth Savior Tooth Soap

Blue Agave Shower Gel

A Wild Soap Bar

So first, let me say when I opened this box up it smelled amazing! I think I sat there and sniffed it like ten times before I even got the first item out. LOL. After the sniffing session ended I finally took everything out of the box and checked it all out. I decided to give Zero a bath right away using the Woof Wild Dog Shampoo and, even though Zero is not a fan of baths, I loved it. LOL

Woof Wild Dog Shampoo Woof Wild Dog Shampoo

This stuff is awesome. It’s a bar so I wasn’t sure how much lather it would produce but it actually produced a surprising amount. It smells super good and she is sooo super soft now. I have to say, though, the thing I like about it the most is the fact it rinsed off easily. Zero has so much fur and a thick undercoat and other shampoos I have used seem to take forever to completely rinse off. This soap rinsed off super easy…making it nicer for me and for Zero. here she is chilling after her bath…#happydog

The next item I used was the Tooth Savior Tooth Soap. Now, not gonna lie…this takes a little getting used to but it’s pretty cool.

tooth Savior Shreds

It’s not a paste…it’s “shreds”. You get one and place it in the back of your mouth, bite down on it and brush with wet toothbrush until the shred is gone.

I opted for the Ultamint flavor, but would think the other Cinnamon flavor would be good, too. I love the fact that it has only natural ingredients and while it will take a little getting use to, I think I am really going to like it!

The last item was the Blue Agave Shower Gel. OMG this stuff is amazing. First, let me say, it doesn’t produce as much lather as fake soaps and gels, but we all know the fake stuff adds in junk JUST to make them lather, so I’m okay with less lather.

What I like most about this is that it feels like it actually rinsed off. No film of fake ingredients left on my skin. And talking about skin…holy cow is it soft! After just one use, my skin was noticeably softer and that was just the soap…not any lotion or moisturizer after.

So now Zero and I are all soft and clean and feeling pretty groovy. If you are looking for healthier products to use that are pure and chemical-free, I would highly recommend the items from A Wild Soap Bar. I am very happy with what I have tried and will be trying more from them in the future for sure! Great company with awesome products!
